Amber Martin premieres at the Cavern Club Theater with her critically acclaimed, loud, luminous & loving tribute to Bette Midler’s early performances at The Continental Baths. This performance focuses on the early 70’s, when a 26 year-old, hungry, as-yet-unknown starlet, Bette Midler, got her chops as the resident firecracker chanteuse singing at the legendary gay bathhouse uptown NYC (now a parking lot under The Ansonia). She earned her “camp medals” in the hot & steamy bathhouse, singing to men in towels, still wet from the pool and other dark spaces. Her also as-yet-unknown house accompanist was none other than Barry Manilow. As per the fiery fashion of beloved Bette… copious amounts of big-hearted singing, salty stories and spirited dancing ensue! Prepare to get a little steamy as Bathhouse Bette pays tribute to the bawdy, sometimes naughty comedy, and beautiful music of Bette Midler in a celebration of the earliest bathhouse performances by the iconic singer, actor and comedian. Amber will be performing live accompanied by her very own “Barry” on piano.
